WHAT INSPIRED US?

The inspiration behind Prescribe Inc. is deeply rooted in personal experience. Growing up in West Africa, Liberia, I faced adversity from a young age. Raised in a household without a father figure, I lacked the support and guidance that many take for granted. Instead, I found myself navigating life’s challenges alone, with limited resources and opportunities.

As a child, I witnessed firsthand the impact of social and economic inequality on individuals and communities. I saw how lack of access to education, employment, and support systems perpetuated cycles of poverty and incarceration. Despite the odds stacked against me, I remained determined to create a better future for myself and those around me.

My journey was marked by resilience, resourcefulness, and a relentless pursuit of opportunity. From selling goods in the streets to support myself and my family, to overcoming countless obstacles to pursue my education, I learned the value of perseverance and determination.

However, it was during my time working as a Detention Officer that I truly understood the magnitude of the challenges facing individuals transitioning from incarceration. I witnessed the cycle of recidivism firsthand, as individuals struggled to find employment, housing, and support upon their release. It became clear to me that the existing system was failing to address the root causes of crime and incarceration, leaving individuals trapped in a cycle of despair.

It was this realization that inspired me to take action. I founded Prescribe Inc. with the belief that everyone deserves a second chance and the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Drawing upon my own experiences and understanding of the challenges faced by those impacted by incarceration, I set out to create an organization that would provide holistic support, resources, and opportunities for individuals to succeed.

My story is a testament to the power of resilience, hope, and second chances. Through Prescribe Inc., I am committed to empowering individuals to overcome adversity, break the cycle of recidivism, and build brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Together, we can create a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and succeed, regardless of their past.

Overview of the Issue of Recidivism

Recidivism, the tendency for individuals to reoffend and return to the criminal justice system, is a pressing issue with far-reaching consequences. It not only affects the individuals involved but also has a significant impact on families, communities, and society as a whole. At Prescribe Inc., we recognize the urgent need to address the underlying factors contributing to recidivism and offer effective solutions to break this harmful cycle.
