About Prescribe Inc. - Boys Mentorship in Charlotte, NC, and Liberia West Africa

Our Mission

Our mission is to guide young boys toward positive adulthood by providing mentorship, capacity-building programs, educational support and safe places for personal growth. We help them break cycles of neglect, social vulnerability.  We do this in Charlotte, North Carolina,  and Liberia as a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit.

Simple aim: pair each boy with a caring adult, build strong habits, and help him lead.

Founder's Story: Abraham Turay

Abraham Turay was born on September 22, 1986. The Liberian war began in 1989 and did not end until 2003, so his childhood sat inside those years. His grandmother raised him with firm care, and there was no active father figure at home. School fees were not guaranteed, so he sold small items by the roadside and took hard labor jobs, working for neighbors after class to stay enrolled in school. Amongst the many things he did, he learned how to make tie-dye fabric, which became a means of income for him.

Many boys near him slipped out of school or into trouble. He chose steady work and steady study. He became the first college graduate in his family, not because doors were open, but because he kept pushing them. Faith and discipline shaped his days, and the missing guide in his own life shaped his aim.

In 2020 he founded Prescribe Inc., a 501(c)(3) that began in Charlotte and now serves new communities with plans to grow. The model is simple and serious: one boy matched with one trained mentor, weekly touchpoints, clear goals, and small wins that add up.

The program welcomes boys who need steady guidance, including those without an active father figure, while keeping the tone hopeful and respectful for every family.

Abraham’s conviction is direct. Boys do better when a trusted adult shows up on time, every time, with patience and clear steps. That is the standard he set for himself, and it is the standard he asks of this work.
